What is throttle choke?

Throttle choke is a mechanism that controls the amount of air and fuel mixture entering the engine. It is typically found on small engines such as those used in lawn mowers, generators, and other outdoor equipment.

The throttle control regulates the speed of the engine by restricting or opening the air intake to the carburetor. Meanwhile, the choke controls the amount of fuel that mixes with the air in order to start the engine.

When starting a cold engine, the choke is closed to increase the amount of fuel in the air/fuel mixture, which makes it easier to ignite. Once the engine has warmed up, the choke is opened to allow more air into the carburetor and less fuel, creating a leaner mixture that enables the engine to run efficiently.

Throttle choke is an important part of engine operation and should be maintained and inspected regularly to ensure that it is functioning properly. A malfunctioning or improperly adjusted choke can lead to difficulty starting an engine, poor fuel economy, and potential damage to the engine.
